It all started in the magical land of Oz…

I had the opportunity to work with some fabulous writers this year. A group of us created a lifestyle magazine titled, XY. The name was cleaverly created by a classmate who liked that the letters represented both female and male chromosones and life force in general.

The layout and design was the most exciting part for Carly and I to create. (Carly Manning was my brilliant co-designer) One day we will be establishing our own lifestyle magazine, but for now we are thrilled with the design and layout we created here. We really wanted to pay omage to the magazines we devoured like, Vanity Fair, Vogue and Marie Claire. (The Aussie version is much better than our Canadian counterpart.) Incorporating the clean aesthetic of magazines like Frank we specifically wanted to create a magazine that was gender neutral. We had a professor obsessed with categorizing writing style by referring to their gender appeal and that become a categorization we aimed to remove.

The magazine will be posted on the University of Wollongong website within the upcoming weeks so for now I will post the review writing that I contributed to the magazine and to The Medium Newspaper.
